There are two weeks left of school before I leave to go back home for Christmas, and I’m so excited. I’ve been fully getting into the Christmas spirit and seeing as much of Paris and the wonderful festive displays that I can. At this time of year I always want to bunker down and hibernate, I’m a winter baby. I love the colder months and all that comes with it…big coats, cosy jumpers, hot chocolates in front of the fire, Christmas songs and cheesy movies. I’ve been spending a fair amount of time at home, the weather hasn’t been great the last few weeks and with the protests happening in Paris every Saturday I’ve not been venturing into the city as much. Instead I’ve been prepping for my return home and getting all of my Christmas shopping done.
I’ve also been taking the opportunity to have some down time. I’ve been reading ‘How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are’ (a great, fun read I think anyone interested in Paris or Parisian culture would like) and have been dabbling in reading my first French magazines. I started with Glamour, this week I’ve levelled up and will be having a go at reading French Vogue. Our teacher has recommended that we start reading more in French and I thought that the shorter articles you find in magazines would be a good place to start. The magazines are also just beautiful to look through which always helps. So far, so good. I’m looking up lots of words but managing to understand the general gist of the articles.
I think I mentioned a couple of posts ago that I’d been giving bullet journaling a try and had found it really relaxing. I’d seen lots of December themed journals on Pinterest and decided to give it a go. You can see my attempts in the pictures, not too bad but could definitely be improved. Either way it’s a fun little addition of festivity to my week and to break up the to do lists. I’ve also watched my first Christmas film of the season…I was babysitting the kids last weekend and we decided to watch the Netflix original ‘The Christmas Chronicles’. They absolutely loved it and I must admit it was pretty good, a great all round family film that both kids and adults will enjoy. Of course I then watched Love Actually after class one day later in the week. Is it even December if you haven’t watched it? Needless to say the Christmas playlists have been in full swing too…I pretty much won’t listen to anything else until the new year now. Not. Even. Ashamed.
This weekend a few of us au pairs are going going to see the Festival of Lights and then head for a few drinks. A couple of them are leaving at Christmas so it’s sort of a farewell get together as well as a chance to all see each other before Christmas. It’ll be my last weekend here before Christmas and I’m so excited to tick off a few more things on my list. Get ready to be instagram spammed over the next few weeks!
